Bee Keeping Essay

All 4-H club members are invited to submit an entry for the
ANNUAL BEE KEEPING ESSAY CONTEST:

The essay provides a platform for youth to creatively express their working
knowledge and research of the craft of beekeeping.

This year's theme: “Planting for Bees from Backyards and Up
"Beekeeping has become difficult due to a lack of native plants for forage. In this essay, you will be required to discuss ways that habitats can be modified to become “bee friendly”. Does your community allow roadsides and open land to grow wildflowers and encourage native planting of bee friendly plants?

Survey your community to see what is being done to help honey bees. Include your state in your survey to see if there is a wildflower planting program available or any other program that could aid the honey bee.

Essays are due February 15th at 5p and should be emailed to me at: liz_driscoll@ncsu.edu

Happy New Year!

4-H is an organization for young people 5 - 18 years of age! We meet in clubs, in afterschool, at school and we meet during the summer. We learn about decision making, taking responsibility, and treating each other with concern and respect.

We elect officers, complete community service projects and go on field trips! We have adult 4-H volunteer leaders to support and guide us!

BUT WE NEED YOU! We need young people who want to learn about science, art, music, math, computers, theater, cooking, environment, animal science and more. We believe we can learn these subjects and share our knowledge with others.

If this sounds like something for you or your family, call our office and JOIN 4-H!

Our number is: Liberty 218-4000; Archdale / Trinity, 819-3000, and Asheboro, 318-6000. 4H is open to girls and boys ages 5 - 18 without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin or disability. 4-H is a United Way Agency
